Balance HR becomes Beam®
Brussel, November 21, 2024 | Balance HR is now Beam®. The collective of freelance HR leaders and experts supports large organizations and their HR teams with business-critical assignments. The name change also reflects substantial innovation. “Through collaboration, tools, and knowledge sharing, we aim to create lasting impact within organizations,” says Managing Partner Edward Vanhoutte.
A new name: Beam – light and direction for HR teams and interim managers
“Our previous name, Balance HR, no longer captured the full scope of what we do,” Edward Vanhoutte explains. “Beyond balance, in the sense of continuity, our HR interim management approach also drives effectiveness and growth within HR teams. We wanted our name to reflect this evolution. While we remain focused on HR interim management, Beam represents the next step forward.”
The name Beam symbolizes light and direction, encapsulating the mission of the network: enabling HR teams and senior HR freelancers to shine through collaboration within a professional network, supported by tools and knowledge.
Enhancing HR professionals: from continuity to impact
“It’s not sustainable for the same challenges to resurface after an intervention,” Edward explains. “That’s why we go beyond temporary reinforcements during absences or projects. With new tools and learning initiatives, we enhance the effectiveness of HR teams and freelancers, helping them make better decisions and achieve greater impact, even after our assignments are completed.”
Beam also assists HR freelancers in finding suitable assignments, particularly in larger organizations where access is often challenging. Freelancers receive targeted support from HR professionals to thrive in their roles.

Edward elaborates on Beam’s broader vision: “Since I started in HR interim management 15 years ago, we’ve seen inspiring evolutions in the field. Social topics like inclusion and wellbeing have risen to the forefront, and there’s been a growing interest in evidence-based HR policies.”
“For me, social impact and evidence-based HR are intertwined. HR is about people who spend a significant part of their lives at work. This calls for a responsible approach. Evidence-based HR enables us to make decisions that are not only more effective but also more human-centric.”
